This painting is from the Torn Edges Series, an ongoing collection of works that focuses on mark making, texture and layering mixed media. Expressive line work, torn loose weave fabrics, oil pastel, charcoal, and pencil are woven through each piece. Incising lines are scratched into the surface at each layer to build history and reveal the texture beneath.

The history of a painting is much like the human experience. Each event leaves a mark, creating a break or fray in our personal fabric, or adding subtle marks to our rich tapestry. Each mark create a balance of perfect imperfection.

Original mixed media abstract painting (acrylic, fabric, graphite, oil pastels), on 1.5” canvas, sealed additionally with a protective varnish. Frame is a natural wood floater frame.
